About River Conwy, Betws-y-Coed
This is the Gwydyr Fishery water on the River Conwy at Betws-y-Coed, managed by Betws-y-Coed Anglers Club. The fishery describes two beats: a lower beat of 2.0 miles from the confluence of the Llugwy and the Conwy, and an upper beat of 1.0 miles from above Waterloo Bridge to the confluence of the Conwy with the Afon Lledr. Salmon and sea trout are caught here, and the fishery’s map names the pools, among them Tyn y Cae, the Meetings, Fir Tree and Waterloo Bridge Pool. The Meetings is where the Conwy meets the Llugwy.
The fishery says it promotes fly fishing, with other methods such as bait spinning and shrimp allowed under certain conditions. The club lists a salmon day ticket for 2026 at £50 and a sea trout dusk till dawn day ticket at £35, and says there are no weekly tickets. Tickets are bought by emailing the club secretary. The position shown is approximate and covers the stretch between the Meetings and the Lledr confluence.
