About Clwb Godre’r Mynydd Du
Clwb Godre’r Mynydd Du offers three sections to day ticket anglers, two on the Cothi and one on the River Amman. The Cothi from Pontargothi to Mynachdu is not far from the confluence with the Towy, where sea trout (sewin) and salmon hold while waiting for a flood to take them upstream. Further up, the Cothi at Crugybar (Ffroodvale and Gwargorof) is over two miles of double bank with numerous holding pools, good runs of sea trout through the season, wild brown trout and the chance of a salmon.
The third section is the Amman from Pontaman to Garnant, which the Passport calls one of the hidden gems of South West Wales. The river once ran yellow with effluent from the coal mines and tin works and is now a sparkling example of the area’s regeneration. The wild brown trout survived the pollution, and the Passport says it has trophy sea trout and a prolific late season salmon run.
A club day ticket lets you fish any of the three sections for salmon, sea trout or brown trout and covers 24 hours, from 7am to 7am, so a day on the salmon and trout can be followed by night fishing for sewin. Night fishing is permitted, salmon are catch and release at all times, and club rules apply, with the full details issued with the booking. It is booked through the Fishing Passport.
