About Honddu Lower Henllan
Lower Henllan is about a mile of mostly double bank on the Honddu, joining onto the downstream limit of the Maes-y-Beran beat. Halfway up the beat a stone arch spans the river; it dates from the early 1800s and was the start of a bridge whose building was cancelled after a dispute between neighbours. The Passport describes a rocky upland stream that has in the past produced some excellent wild brown trout, and suggests a rod of 6ยฝ to 7ยฝ feet rated 2 to 4 weight.
It is fly fishing only, all species are catch and release, and dogs are not allowed. It is a Wild Stream beat: it is booked through the Fishing Passport, or fished on a Wild Stream Season Permit.
