About Seiont, Gwyrfai and Llyfni Fishing Society, Llyn Cwellyn
The Passport calls the fishing on Llyn Cwellyn truly outstanding, with free rising wild brown trout rivalling any elsewhere in these islands. Cwellyn is a relatively large lake of around 220 acres, designated a Special Area of Conservation, and because of its depth it supports one of Britain’s few populations of Arctic char.
The society’s website adds that fly fishing dominates and that boat fishing is very popular, with small dark flies the order of the day. It names August as the time for late evening sedge hatches and says that in wet, misty weather the large ferox trout move close to the shore. A ticket for this section also lets you fish any of the Seiont, Gwyrfai and Llyfni Fishing Society beats on the Passport; maps for all are provided on booking. Prawn fishing is prohibited and dogs are not allowed. It is booked through the Fishing Passport.
