About Ogwen Valley Angling Association, Llyn Idwal

Llyn Idwal lies below Y Garn and Glyder Fawr, 373m above sea level, about 800m long and 300m across. The depth at the margins varies a good deal: the Passport says wading should be tried only with extreme caution because the lake bed falls away steeply in places, and bank fishing is a necessity for most of the water. The walk up is a well built stony path of about 1km, about 20 minutes at a medium pace. The fish are natural wild brown trout up to 1lb, very occasionally a wild fish of up to 1.5lb.
