About River Dane, Hug Bridge
Hug Bridge is the club’s lower beat on the River Dane, where the A523 Macclesfield to Leek road crosses the river. The club fishes about three quarters of a mile upstream of the road bridge, double bank.
The fishing is for wild brown trout. The club does not stock the river, every fish must be returned and hooks must be barbless or de-barbed. This is the one beat of the club’s river water on which day tickets are available, during the trout season from 15 March to 30 September. The club issues three a day, asks for them to be requested well ahead, preferably seven days, and says everyone buying one must show an Environment Agency rod licence. The position shown is approximate.
