About River Mimram, Panshanger Park
The River Mimram runs through Panshanger Park on the edge of Hertford, and Panshanger Anglers fish about half a mile of it. The club describes the stretch as running from where the river leaves the park at its eastern boundary, upstream to the weir near the bridge between Riverside and Kings Lakes, with a further beat beyond that, east of Pans lake.
The Mimram is one of England’s rare chalk streams, with clear water, gravel beds and plenty of weed and insect life, and it holds wild brown trout and grayling. The club says the fishing is traditional, with careful wading and accurate casting. The close season for brown trout is 1 October to 31 March and for grayling 15 March to 15 June. All brown trout and grayling caught here must be returned alive.
The water is for members of Panshanger Anglers only, and the club takes new members from a waiting list. The position shown is approximate.
