About River Rhymney, Llanbradach
The club describes eight beats on the River Rhymney at Llanbradach. Looking upstream from the link road bridge by the Wingfield pub there are two small west bank beats and one much longer east bank beat. Immediately downstream of the bridge there are beats on both banks, and further downstream three more, one of them on the west bank near School Street. The last two, opposite each other, are near Heol Beulah. There are no car parks nearby, so the club advises parking in the adjacent streets.
The club lists brown trout, grayling, chub, eels and bullheads as the permanent fish, with salmon and sea trout present from time to time but returned if caught. A maximum of two brown trout of 13 inches or more may be taken in each session. The season is 3 March to 30 September, with fly, worm or spinner. The club sends maps when you join, and asks anglers to check them because many of the beats are not signed. The position shown is approximate, between the Wingfield bridge and Heol Beulah.
