About the River Afon Gwyrfai

The Afon Gwyrfai is a short river in Gwynedd, flowing for half of its length through Snowdonia National Park. It leaves Llyn y Gader and runs north through the small village of Rhyd-ddu to enter the south eastern end of Llyn Cwellyn. Below the lake it flows north west past Betws Garmon, leaves the national park, and carries on past the southern edge of Waunfawr and through Bontnewydd to Foryd Bay, whose tidal channel opens into the western end of the Menai Strait.
