About the River Rheidol

The River Rheidol, Afon Rheidol in Welsh, is a river in Ceredigion about 19 miles long. It rises on Plynlimon, the mountain that also feeds the Wye and the Severn, and its upper course is the outflow of the Nant-y-moch reservoir on the western flank of the hill. From there the River Rheidol runs south to Ponterwyd, south west through old oak woodland, then west to Devilโ€™s Bridge, where the Afon Mynach joins it beside a spectacular waterfall. It carries on west past the old Cwm Rheidol lead mine and reaches Cardigan Bay at Aberystwyth, meeting the River Ystwyth in the harbour.
