About the River Afon Seiont

The Afon Seiont is a short river in Gwynedd that runs into the Menai Strait. Its source is the outflow of Llyn Padarn near Llanberis, and it flows north west to Caernarfon, where its mouth forms a natural harbour. Between the lake and the village of Llanrug the same water is known as the Afon Rhythallt, and the name changes just after the village. The name is the root of Segontium, the Roman fort above Caernarfon.
