About Darlington Brown Trout AA North Bank
This is about three miles of fly fishing on the north bank of the Tees for brown trout, grayling and salmon, run by the Darlington Brown Trout Angling Association, and the beat is fly only. The Passport describes exceptional fly water for free rising fish, with a mix of deep holding pools and long gravelly runs, and calls the section superb salmon water, with the main runs between mid-August and October.
Wading is average and a wading staff is advisable. For brown trout the page recommends spiders, nymphs and the dry fly, and says euro nymphing is effective, on a 9ft to 10ft rod rated 3 to 5. For salmon it suggests switch rods up to 14ft salmon rods, with low water doubles and a mix of tubes, and it says the winter grayling sport is excellent.
Dogs are not allowed. Up to four tickets are sold a day. The salmon day ticket costs £20, the river trout day ticket £14 and the winter grayling day ticket £8. It is booked through the Fishing Passport.
