About River Prysor, Beat 1

The Afon Prysor rises towards Arenig in Llyn Cwm Prysor and flows west towards Llyn Trawsfynydd. It is a small river with nice pools and glides, holding brown trout up to a pound and a half on the beat page and a good head of trout up to 12oz on the Passportโ€™s river page, with an occasional rainbow trout that has come up from the lake. Casting can be a challenge because trees overhang the river, particularly on the lower part, and wading is not necessary. The Passport says the trout are not picky: general small patterns will catch, with a parachute Adams, a Klinkhammer or a small beetle pattern suggested, and fishing downstream with wet flies can be very productive in some of the wider riffles.
