About Disserth Ithon
Disserth Ithon is around three miles of the River Ithon, just downstream of Llandrindod Wells. It offers the chance of wild trout, grayling and the occasional chub. The bed is a mixture of shale and bedrock, so the wading is quite difficult. It is mostly right bank fishing, with a two thirds of a mile section of double bank towards the middle.
Exclusivity is not guaranteed: a fishing club also fishes the beat and may occasionally be on it, though with about three miles of river the Passport says the chances of meeting another angler are remote. From 1 May half price evening tickets can be bought after 1pm on the day, with fishing allowed from 5pm, and trotting with maggots for grayling is allowed from 1 November to 2 March.
All species are catch and release and dogs are not allowed. The trout day ticket costs £19 and the winter grayling day ticket is listed at £18.50 to £19, with up to four tickets a day. It is booked through the Fishing Passport.
