About Oakfield
Oakfield is a short section, about 500 metres, of the upper River Ithon just downstream of Llanbadarn Fynydd. The stretch is mostly shallow with some excellent riffle sections winding through the Ithon valley. Wading is easy, but the banks are easy to get along and the Passport says wading is rarely necessary. Although short, it would be an ideal stretch for a few hoursโ fishing, or for those learning to fish or instructing new anglers. There is a walk of about 200 metres from the parking area to the fishing.
It is fly fishing only, all species are catch and release, an online catch return must be completed after fishing, and dogs are not allowed. It is a Wild Stream beat: it is booked through the Fishing Passport, or fished on a Wild Stream Season Permit.
