About Llanddewi
Llanddewi is a mile and a half of double bank on the upper River Ithon. It offers anglers the chance of wild brown trout and some excellent grayling fishing. The riverbed is mostly gravel and shale, so the wading is relatively easy, though there are some very deep pools and care is needed. The banks are quite open with relatively easy backcasting, and there is a walk of about 150 metres from the bottom parking area to the river.
The fishery is fly only from 3 March to 31 October, with trotting for grayling permitted from 1 November to 2 March. Salmon and trout spawn in this area in autumn and winter, so anglers are asked not to disturb spawning fish or step close to any redds, and from November to March it is advisable not to wade deeper than the knee.
All species are catch and release, there is no night fishing or overnight camping, and dogs are not allowed. The winter grayling day ticket costs £21 and a block booking £42, with up to two tickets a day. It is a Wild Stream beat: it is booked through the Fishing Passport, or fished on a Wild Stream Season Permit.
