About River Wey, Peper Harow Park
Peper Harow Park Fly Fishers have about one and a quarter miles of mainly double bank fishing on the River Wey, the section below Somerset Bridge that flows through the Peper Harow Park estate. The club’s rules give the stretch as running from Somerset Bridge downstream to the road bridge on the A3, and its beat map marks a few short lengths as out of bounds.
It is fly only, and the club says the dry fly is part of the sport. The club has designated the river a wild trout catch and release fishery, and barbless hooks are required. It describes a reasonably good mayfly hatch, with other olives and sedge making up the usual diet. Brown trout have been stocked in reducing numbers, and the club is working with the Environment Agency and the Wild Trout Trust to build a self sustaining stock by improving the habitat. Members can fly fish for grayling from 1 November to 14 March. No dogs are allowed because of cattle.
The water is for members of the club only. The position shown is approximate.
