About River Clwyd, Lower Pont Dafydd and Pont Dafydd
These are the association’s two lowest beats on the River Clwyd, both close to the A55 at St Asaph. Lower Pont Dafydd is mostly double bank, with about 930m of left bank and 850m of right bank starting at the flyover, and is 1.8km upstream of the Junction Pool. The association says to expect fresh run, sea liced sea trout and salmon this close to the tide. Pont Dafydd is a leased double bank beat of about 1,200m above the old A55 road bridge, with two fields on the left bank and a little more on the right.
Booking is not required and visitor tickets are £20 for one day or £80 for five days, bought online through the association’s website. Lower Pont Dafydd has no designated parking and is reached on foot from Chester Street or Lon Tai Cochion in St Asaph. Pont Dafydd has a members’ parking area on a farm track off the A55 slip road.
