About Upper Ro Fawr, Golden Grove
Upper Ro Fawr is just over a mile of typical Towy fishing on the Golden Grove Estate. Eight named holding pools follow the large bend in the river, and the Passport says the stretch is easy to get to and has fine scenery throughout.
Wading is required for night fishing and can be quite deep. Getting down to the riverside is usually very easy and the wading is generally excellent, on wide open water over a shingle base, although there are odd larger stones and rocks and occasional mud banks. At summer levels one can usually wade across the river at selected places.
Anglers must contact the ghillie at least 24 hours before they arrive; the ghillie’s details are issued with the booking confirmation. Up to five tickets are sold a day, and a 24 hour ticket costs £100. It is booked through the Fishing Passport.
