About Dinas
Dinas is just under a mile of mostly double bank on the middle Usk, which the Passport counts among the finest of the middle Usk fishing for salmon and trout. There are two named salmon pools and the trout fishing has a good variety of water: dry fly flats, fast riffles and deeper pools. The river flows over gravel for the most part, so wading is relatively easy with only the occasional rock to negotiate.
You can drive up to the water’s edge on the right bank, where nearly all the fishing is done; when it is wet the parking is a walk of about 450 metres. It is a private beat and fly fishing only for trout. Dogs are not allowed. Two trout may be taken per rod and anything under 9 inches must be returned. Salmon are catch and release at all times. A salmon day ticket costs £33.50 and a river trout day ticket £29.50, with up to two tickets a day. It is booked through the Fishing Passport.
