About Green Drive
Green Drive is 1.3 kilometres of left bank on the Usk where it leaves the Buckland gorge. The river runs over bedrock and boulders here, with two waterfalls and several other cascades. For salmon the Passport names Beginners Pool, Shingles Pool in higher water (where fish check alongside the middle river rock outcrop after running the falls), the middle and tail of the Falls Pool and the boat (Panteg) pool at the bottom end, and says Beech Pool is worth a cast as well. There are a number of other catches and lies.
Every booking has to be agreed by the fishery owner before it is accepted, and an answer can take 48 hours or more, so allow for that if you are planning a late booking.
It is fly fishing only for trout, two trout may be taken per rod, salmon are catch and release at all times, and hooks must be barbless. Dogs are allowed if kept under control. A salmon day ticket costs £45 and a river trout day ticket £40, with up to two tickets a day. It is booked through the Fishing Passport.
