About Llanstephan
Llanstephan is about two miles of single bank, the left bank, on the Wye, eight miles downstream of Builth Wells. It has a variety of water and is well known for its salmon pools. Trout can be found in the rapids below Llangoed Pool and in the top half of the beat. The Passport describes excellent coarse fishing from the tail of Orchard down to Llangoed Pool, with large chub and plenty of fish of 2 to 5lb, as well as dace, grayling and the occasional barbel, and pike are present.
The beat shares an am and pm rotation with Llangoed on the opposite bank, with the changeover at 1pm. There is no split between 18 October and 2 March.
Salmon are catch and release at all times, the limit is two fish (trout and grayling), and dogs are not allowed. Up to two tickets are sold a day. A salmon day ticket costs £35 and a trout day ticket £24. It is booked through the Fishing Passport.
