About Lower Clochfaen
Lower Clochfaen is just under two miles of the upper Wye near Llangurig, split into two sections, with a mixture of double and single bank. Parts of the lower section flow over bedrock, so wading can be tricky, but the pocket water makes for interesting fishing. Much of the upstream section is very open with little to snag a back cast, while the lower sections are more tree lined.
There are three parking spots, all a very short walk from the river. Half price evening tickets can be bought from 1 May, after 1pm on the day, with fishing from 4pm.
It is fly fishing only with barbless hooks, all species are catch and release, and dogs are not allowed. Up to two tickets are sold a day, and a trout day ticket costs £26. It is booked through the Fishing Passport.
