About Colonel’s Water

Colonel’s Water is just over a mile and a half of mostly double bank on the River Irfon, just downstream of Llanwrtyd Wells, and the beat also includes a small section of the Cledan brook. The Passport says the Irfon is renowned for its grayling, and this beat also offers some good trout fishing. Wading is relatively easy along most of the beat in normal flows, over a gravel bed, and much of it can be fished from the left bank with plenty of room to cast. Parking is about 270 yards from the river.
