About Llanfechan
Llanfechan is about a mile of left bank on the River Irfon, four or five miles from the confluence with the main Wye. The Passport describes it as a very peaceful and secluded part of the upper Wye catchment, with the Irfon valley scenery around it. The presence of grayling means the fishery stays open all year round.
The bed is a mixture of bedrock and gravel and the wading difficulty varies from pool to pool. A well trodden path runs along the length of the fishery, and parking is around 250 metres from the river.
It is fly fishing only, with a limit of two fish (trout and grayling), and dogs are not allowed. The trout day ticket costs £19 and the winter grayling day ticket is listed at £18 to £19, with up to two tickets a day. Waders, nets and tackle must be sprayed with Virkon before and after fishing. It is booked through the Fishing Passport.
