About River Elwy, Maes Elwy Wood

Maes Elwy Wood is a double bank beat of about 1,000m on the River Elwy, downstream of Pont yr Allt Goch bridge. The right bank is heavily wooded but has good holding pools beneath the trees, and the beat is best fished from the left bank. The association owns the right bank and leases the left, says parts can be waded with care, and notes that it often produces good fish, including large brown trout.
