About River Dee, Coed yr Allt
Coed yr Allt is the club’s most recent addition to its beats, near Halton at Chirk, and the club calls it a tale of two halves. The top of the beat is deeper rocky pools with several riffles, best suited to the spinning and bait angler. The bottom half is a narrow run leading to slower, deeper gravel bottomed water that suits the fly fisherman, and the beat finishes at the junction of the Dee and the Ceiriog. It is single bank fishing, and members may fish for salmon, sea trout, grayling and brown trout.
Night fishing for sea trout is allowed until 3am and is strictly fly only. The beat has its own limits on cars at the top and bottom, and the club agrees parking separately with another club whose water lies alongside, so members check the beat page before they go. This water is for members. The club’s 2026 rate for a new adult salmon member is £160 and for trout and grayling £100, each with a £70 joining fee, and members get two free guest tickets a season. The position shown is approximate.
